Support GroupStrokidz offer a peer support network to parents and families of children who have suffered a stroke. With the group being made up of parents and survivors we have all experienced the, ‘why us’ syndrome, feelings of being on your own and the difficulty in explaining to your family and friends that ‘stroke’ does occur in people from all age groups including in utero. We have included stories from members of our group, read these stories and share them with your family and friends don’t forget the tissues. Feel free to contact any of the parents who have their details attatched to their particular story. Having somebody to talk to who has experienced a similar situation can be a huge step in the healing process. You are welcome to attend our regular meetings at the Royal Childrens Hospital, Melbourne, or attend one of our informal social functions. We are also in the process of organising formal information sessions at the RCH which will include presentations from medical professionals and organisations who we as parents have come into contact with. Details are available from admin@strokidz.com In Victoria alone there are around one hundred children per year diagnosed with stroke, so there is no need for you or your family to struggle through the complexities of this issue on your own.
